The Dwight Look College of Engineering is hosting 14 Texas
secondary school science and math teachers for a four-week
summer residential engineering research experience on the Texas
A&M University College Station campus during the month of June.
This integrated math/science program is designed to support student
success on the TAKS/STAAR.

The Nuclear Power Institute, at Texas A&M University, in
cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is
hosting a three-week Nuclear Energy Management School (NEMS) for
professionals working in nuclear energy and related fields. The
school targets participants from the Americas but is open to
applicants from other countries. The purpose of this school is to

On Thursday, March 21, STP hosted 25 students from El Campo High
School's POWER SET and WIT programs. The POWER SET training
program, short for Powerful Opportunities for Women Eager and Ready
for Science, Engineering and Technology, provides a path to careers
in science and mathematics for girls in rural South Texas. POWER
SET is sponsored by the Nuclear Power Institute. NPI is a unique
statewide partnership led by the Texas Engineering Experiment

On February 22nd and 23rd, the Palacios High School POWER SET
traveled to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and Texas
A&M University in College Station.
At SHSU, the young ladies met with Ag Ambassadors in the
Department of Agricultural and Industrial Sciences who talked with
the girls about general college life, as well as specifics to their
majors, including Ag Engineering and Technology and Construction

The Sweeny High School Workforce Industry Training (WIT) group
visited STP for a driving and Simulator tour on Wednesday, January
30, 2013.
WIT is modeled on the POWER SET program and is open to both male
and female students in high schools. It offers similar benefits and
opportunities as POWER SET, such as providing the educational tools
and essential support to pursue educational professional
opportunities in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM)
technical fields.
